I am excited to share that the High School Battle of the Books list for 2018-2019 is now available. Students that are interested in participating in HSBOB can start reading books on the list now! What is High School Battle of the Books? It is a reading program similar to Elementary and Middle School Battle of the books. Students have a list of 15 titles they are asked to read. During the spring teams will compete with each other answering questions about these titles. This is a new program for High Schools and began in North Carolina during the 2017-2018 school year. Next school year, OGHS will offer High School Battle of the Books as a Club and during Advisory. We are excited to be starting a new summer reading program here at OGHS! Students that are interested will be allowed to checkout up to 15 books for the summer. All they need to do is stop by the OGHS Media Center during the month of May and pick up a permission form for their parents to sign. Students that have turned in permission forms will be able to stop by the Media Center May 29th-June 1st and checkout books. These books will be due the 1st week of school in August. If students are interested in exchanging books during the summer they will have two opportunities to do that. Monday June 16th and Monday July 18th the OGHS Media Center will be open from 11am-1pm for students to exchange books. All books from summer checkout will be due the 1st week of school in August. For more information on summer checkout and summer book exchange dates visit the summer checkout page on the OGHS Media Center website. |
